I'm Karen. I'm 55 years old, single and live with my younger son, Nick, 25. My elder son Matt is 28, studied at Oban University and now works as a marine biologist.
I have worked as a qualified chef in a number of local restaurants and hotels and was a nanny for several years before becoming a Registered Childminder around 25 years ago; with a couple of breaks during that time to do college courses and a period as a nursery nurse.
In addition to SVQ 2 & 3 qualifications, required to become a Registered Childminder, I hold an HNC in Childcare and Education, Paediatric First Aid Certificate and Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate and hold a current Environmental Health pass certificate. I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office. I regularly attend training courses run by Renfrewshire Council, Capability Scotland and other organisations active in the field and keep myself abreast of legislative requirements and current thinking regarding age related learning and activities covering all areas of the curriculum.
